HMS raises over £1,200 for FireFit’s young people

A virtual Quiz Night and Race Night has raised over an amazing £1,200 for North West charity, Torus Foundation.

The events were organised and hosted during lockdown to commemorate the 9thbirthday celebrations of award-winning building and maintenance contractor, HMS. The money will be used to help deliver a package of on-going support to young people via FireFit Hub, the flagship project of Torus Foundation.

Commenting on the events, Paul Worthington, Managing Director of Stonebridge-based HMS, said:

“As a business, we are very active in the communities that we work in and are keen to make a difference. We want our influence to go beyond the homes we build and renovate, creating a lasting legacy. This might include providing work and training opportunities or investing in local initiatives via the Torus Foundation.”

Kate Shone, Managing Director at Torus Foundation added: “The pandemic has removed so much of the ‘normal’ from daily life. But with schools and leisure centres closed, young people have been really affected.

“Finding new ways to engage with our young members has been a priority for us and has led to plenty of off-the-cuff innovation via various virtual channels with sport challenges, quizzes, recipes to name but a few.

“This year, for example, we’ll be moving our regular Summer Holiday Camp online and hosting a Virtual Summer Camp.

“This generous donation from HMS will help provide activity packs to support this initiative. It’s a great example of how HMS is a big part of the impact being delivered across our communities.”

This round of fundraising is focusing on the wellbeing support the team can provide for young people across Liverpool through 1-2-1 welfare calls, engagement activities and food parcels. Be a part of the positive impact being made in our community.
